Camps & Clinics

Donkey Gentling Camps

A week-long, hands-on gentling camp focused on building trust and understanding with wild and semi-wild donkeys. Designed for calm, patient owners who want to create a solid foundation without rushing the process.

The Donkey Gentling Camp at Famous Shamus Farm is a small, immersive experience working directly with wild and semi-wild donkeys.

This camp focuses on:

• Reading donkey behavior and body language

• Building trust through fair, consistent handling

• Haltering, leading, and early groundwork

• Helping donkeys move forward when they feel unsure

• Knowing when to ask — and when to wait

Each camp is intentionally limited to 2 participants to ensure individual attention for both people and donkeys.

Progress looks different for every donkey. The goal is understanding, confidence, and long-term success — not checking boxes or rushing results.
